Get in Your Bubble… for Mental Health Day
A two minute read (at most)
This Mental Health Day, I wonder if you’re someone who prioritises the health, safety, quality of care, education and wellbeing for the young people you work with or care for? Can I gently remind you that today is about you, too.
The World Federation for Mental Health made it so, by naming the theme for this year as workplace mental health, for a reason.
This theme highlights the importance of embracing a positive approach to supporting, No, Advocating, mental health and wellbeing in the workplace, for the benefit of people, organisations, and communities.
When we are well, the young people and learning community we work for has a better chance of being, becoming, learning to and then staying, well.
Not wanting to show off, but I can say that I work with one of the best SENDCOs in the universe. A few weeks ago she sent me a text reading simply, ‘Get into your bubble, Jess’. Best advice I’ve had in months, because everyone’s bubble is different, but we all need permission sometimes to stop and GET IN IT.
It’s easy to forget how important the wellbeing and quality of support for those who look out for our children is. So, big thanks to those people who are in the corner of our SEND kids - It is a tough place to be yet you stay there all the same. Please accept permission if you’re one of those fabulous people, to look out for yourself too. Get into your bubble for an hour tonight and dedicate some rare attention and time to nurturing yourself at the end of a busy day today.
Beyond Creative Education is here for professionals too - do get in touch if a coaching session for yourself, staff training programme or professional learning day would be helpful off the back of activities and focused conversations today.
Regardless - you must accept permission to sit still for a bit tonight and just be. Happy Mental Health Day, colleagues.
